Ath-Bimoun(Béjaia). Discovery of an engraved stone in Lybic characters

An engraved stone in Lybic characters was discovered in Ifoughallen, village of Ath-Bimoun, Region of Béjaia. This engraved stone was discovered while a road of Ifoughallen was on project. The discoverer didn’t inform the specialists because he thought it was an ordinary one.

Two months later, he told Mr Madjid Amokrane, the president of Ath-Bimoun’s Federation, about his discovery. Mr Amokrane informed a special Center in Algiers and a groupo of specialists came to Ifoughallen, headed by Mr Slimane Hachi.

After studying the discovery, the specialists confirmed that the engraved stone goes back to about (3000 - 5000) years B.C. Lybic characters were the first writing of Berber’s language, before the Tifinagh.
