No to an imperial arabic culture
About 20000 students of the University Abderrahmane Mira (Béjaia) organized a big march on Tuesday, 9th January 2007. They marched from the new University (which is located in Aboudaou; 6 Km far from Béjaia) to the headquarter of the wilaya.
The objective of this big march was an answer to the decision of the Algerian government to choose the 12th January 2007, as a beginning of “Algiers, capital of Arabic culture” which coincides with the first of Yennayer 2957 ( The Berber year).
After the march, the students organized a meeting in front of the headquarter of the wilaya. Everybody said: “ We are not Arabics” and “ No to an Imperial Arabic culture”. Saddek Akrour, University teacher in the department of Economy said: “ We are not against International culture. However, Algerian people is Berber”.
THE FEDERATION OF ATH-BIMUN CELEBRATE YENNAYER
The federation of Ath-Bimun celebrated Yennayer 2957 in its headquarter which is located in Center of Béjaia. A warm reception was given to the guests. However, Mr Madjid Amokrane, the president of Ath-Bimun’s federation, said:” Even the reception was given by the federation of Ath-Bimun, we are all concerned by Yennayer”. He paid a homage also to the students of the University Abderrahmane Mira of Béjaia who organized a big march from Aboudaou to Béjaia to answer the decision of the government to choose the first of Yennayer 2957 to begin “Algiers, capital ,of Arabic culture”.
A second reception was offered to the families. At the end, we cannot forget Mokrane called “Hamou” who died on the 11th of December 2006. He was married with eight children. “Hamou” was an artist and an active member of the federation of Ath-Bimun.
THE ASSOCIATION “TALWIT” PAY HOMAGE TO BRAHIM IZRI
Brahim Izri The association “Talwit” commemorated the second anniversary of Brahim Izri’s death on the 11th and 12th of January 2007 which are coincide with Yennayer 2957 (Berber year).
In the Mouloud Mammeri cultural space, an exhibition and a conference-memory were organized. Then, some artists sang.
On the Hadj Belkacem’s zaouia (Brahim Izri’s grand-father), after the traditional ritual, a religious ceremony was organized and, on Friday, a spray of flowers was deposited on his tomb.
Brahim Izri left us on the 3rd of January 2005. He was born on the 12th of January 2007.
